#18 Washington hosts #41 Oregon, 11 am | Live Scores and Video
SEATTLE – After a ten day layoff, the 18th-ranked Husky women’s tennis team is back home and returning to Pac-12 play with a crucial rivalry match against the 41st-ranked Oregon Ducks. Washington (13-3, 4-0 Pac-12) is looking for a 5-0 start to Pac-12 play for just the second time in school history. The teams face off this Sunday, Apr. 2, at 11 a.m. most likely at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies have not played since winning three matches in five-plus days over ranked opponents when they beat then-No. 29 Arizona State and then-No. 57 Arizona at home, then traveled to then-No. 39 San Diego for a road victory that had to be finished on a second day due to weather. Since those wins, all three of those opponents have moved up the rankings: ASU to No. 26, San Diego to No. 29, and Arizona to No. 44.
The last and only other time the Huskies were 5-0 in conference, which they can reach with a win on Sunday, was 2019, when the Huskies finished 8-2 and tied for second in the Pac-12.
Individual rankings have remained the same since the last time the Huskies competed. Astrid Olsen is ranked No. 102, Hikaru Sato is No. 115, and Jennifer Kerr is No. 120.
The Ducks are currently 10-4 and 3-1 in Pac-12 play with a stop in Pullman first on Friday to take on the Cougars. Oregon had a home sweep over the mountain schools, and a road split in the desert, beating Arizona but falling to Arizona State. Sophie Luescher has gone 4-5 at the No. 1 singles spot while the best dual records belong to Uxia Martinez Moral (10-2 at No. 4-5) and Jo-Yee Chan (9-2 at No. 5-6). Chan and Arex Teixido Garcia are 10-1 in dual play as a doubles pair. Oregon won the last meeting between the teams in a 4-0 match in Eugene last year.
