No. 18 Gators Return Home to Host Vanderbilt and Kentucky


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s tennis will return home this weekend to host a pair of matches at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Friday and Sunday.
 
The No. 21 Gators (7-3, 2-1 SEC) will welcome No. 23 Vanderbilt (8-5, 2-2 SEC) on Friday evening at 5 p.m. ET, before matching-up with No. 68 Kentucky (7-6, 1-3 SEC) on Sunday afternoon at noon ET.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. VANDERBILT

Florida and Vanderbilt will meet for the 62nd time on Friday evening, with the Gators holding a 51-10 advantage all-time. Last season, the Orange & Blue took down the Commodores in Nashville, 6-1, on March 4, 2022. In Gainesville, UF boasts a 22-1 mark over Vanderbilt.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. KENTUCKY
The Gators will meet Kentucky for the 48th time in program history on Sunday, maintaining a 44-3 lead in the all-time series history, including a perfect 22-0 mark in Gainesville. Florida earned a 5-2 victory in Lexington on April 1, 2022 last season, pushing their record to 16-3 on the road against the Wildcats.  
 
DAHLSTROM’S BIG DAY
Ranked No. 119 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, Sara Dahlstrom picked-up the biggest win in her career on Saturday over No. 14 Sarah Hamner of South Carolina. The junior opened the first set with a strong 3-1 edge and didn’t look back, racing out to an opening-frame victory, 6-2. No. 14 Hamner wouldn’t disappear for the Gamecocks, pulling in front for a 4-2 edge midway through the second set, but Dahlstrom responded by reeling-off four-consecutive games to claim the match and secure the highest-ranked victory of her career. Saturday marked Dahlstrom’s second victory over a ranked opponent of the season.
 
ITA RANKINGS
In the latest ITA Rankings, the Gators continue to climb and find themselves ranked No. 18 as a team. Individually, Carly Briggs leads the way with a ranking of No. 47, while Sara Dahlstrom and Anastasia Sysoeva both remain in the rankings as well, sitting at 119th and 121st, respectively. The doubles tandem of Briggs and Rachel Gailis also appear in this week’s rankings, entering as the No. 60 doubles squad.
 
SEC STRONG
The SEC is one of the top conferences in collegiate tennis, with 12 teams finding themselves in the latest top-75 rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Among the Power Five conferences, the SEC’s 12 ranked-teams are the second most, while the ACC leads the way with 13.
