THE FLATS – No. 17 Georgia Tech women’s tennis prepares to make its 23rd appearance in the NCAA Championships this weekend, opening first round action on Friday against No. 38 UCF. First and second round action will take place at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla., on the campus of the University of Florida.

THE SCENE: Georgia Tech looks to advance to the NCAA Championships second round for the 22nd time in program history. The winner from Friday will meet either North Florida or host Florida on Saturday in second round action at 1 p.m. Saturday’s winner will advance to the round of 16 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
SCOUTING TECH – The Yellow Jackets are coming off a run to the ACC Tournament semifinals after upending Syracuse and Duke. Four Yellow Jackets continue to be ranked in the nation’s top 125 led by Carol Lee at No. 15, Kylie Bilchev (No. 27), Mahak Jain (No. 98) and Alejandra Cruz (No. 110). Georgia Tech is making its third appearance in Gainesville for the first two rounds, having been slated there in 2013 and 2015. In both appearances, the Jackets reached the second round.
SCOUTING UCF – The Knights come into this weekend after advancing to the finals of the American Athletic Conference Championship by blanking Houston and Memphis to reach the title match. UCF is making its fifth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships. The Yellow Jackets and Knights met in regular season play in Atlanta, with Georgia Tech collecting a 4-3 decision. Georgia Tech owns a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series against UCF.
