GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 15 Florida Gators men’s tennis team will square off against the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles in USTA’s College MatchDay at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla. for the sixth time in program history. This year’s event will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Since College MatchDay moved to the National Campus in 2017, the Gators participated from 2017-20 and returned in 2022 after College MatchDay’s one-year hiatus. Florida holds the series advantage 3-2 at College Matchday over Florida State and defeated the Seminoles 4-1 in 2022.
 
The Gators are fresh off qualifying for a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships after going 2-0 at ITA Kickoff Weekend with wins over USF, 4-1, and Mississippi State, 4-2, respectively.
 
In both the USF and Mississippi State match, No. 43 ranked doubles pair Jonah Braswell/Lukas Greif clinched both doubles point with their wins at court three. Greif then went on to clinch the two match wins for Florida with straight set victories on court five and earned SEC Player of the Week honors for his strong weekend. Additionally, Togan Tokac went 2-0 in singles play in his first two matches playing at court six.

SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES
Florida State enters College Matchday at 5-1 and notably defeated then-No. 7 Georgia 5-2. On the Seminoles trip to Baylor for ITA Kickoff Weekend, FSU beat San Diego 4-2 before falling to No. 12 Baylor 4-2 in the championship match. FSU is one of seven teams in the country with three players ranked among the ITA’s Top-55 singles rankings.
 
At ITA Regionals in the fall, Florida players went a overall 2-3 against players from Florida State. Nate Bonetto defeated John Bernard, 6-3, 6-2 and lost to Youcef Rihane, 7-5, 6-4. Braswell beat Andreja Petrovic, 6-4, 6-4, but lost to Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, 6-0, 6-3. Tanapatt Nirundorn lost to Jamie Connel, 6-2, 6-3.
