No. 14 Wake Forest Returns Home for Trio of Matches


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following a sweep of defending Big 12 Champion, No. 42 Baylor, the 14th-ranked Wake Forest men’s tennis team will return to action Friday for a showdown with No. 39 Louisville, before hosting No. 50 Notre Dame and in-state opponent UNC Greensboro for a double-header Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
 
This season, Demon Deacons are led by No. 11 Melios Efstathiou as the Limassol, Cyprus native owns a 13-2 duals singles record, including two top 10 victories. Of note, as a team, the Deacs hold an 18-2 record in first singles.
 
With Sunday’s match against UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest will look to improve to 17-0 against in-state foes since the beginning of last season.

  • Sunday, March 26

    • Noon – No. 14 Wake Forest vs. No. 50 Notre Dame

Last Time Out
Wake Forest earned a 4-0 decision over No. 42 Baylor Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
 
The win marked the Demon Deacons’ third-consecutive victory and their seventh win over a ranked opponent this season. Additionally, the Deacs improved to a perfect 3-0 in road matches with the win over the Bears.
 
Baylor came out strong in doubles play, taking the lead in first and second doubles through seven games. Wake Forest quickly weathered the storm as Matthew Thomson/Melios Efstathiou earned a 6-3 decision in third doubles.
 
After the Bears took first doubles, all eyes turned to court two as Jurabek Karimov/Luciano Tacchi notched a narrow 7-6 (7-4) victory over Luc Koenig/Juampi Mazzuchi to secure the doubles point for Wake…
