No. 11 USC Men’s Tennis Beats the Bruins 4-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 11 USC men’s tennis completed the season sweep of crosstown rival UCLA Wednesday evening, defeating the Bruins 4-0 at Marks Stadium.  

 

The Trojans started the match hot, with Learner Tien and Bradley Frye defeating No. 60 Timothy Li and Giacomo Revelli 6-3 on court one. Ryan Colby and Stefan Dostanic followed quickly on court two, defeating Patrick Zahraj and Gianluca Ballotta 6-2 to secure the doubles point.  

 

Tien kept the Trojans rolling in singles play, scoring his first singles win as a Trojan and as an NCAA athlete with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Revelli on court two. No. 44 Peter Makk scored next, defeating Aadarsh Tripathi on court three 6-1, 6-4 to bring the Trojans within one, before No. 31 Dostanic clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over No. 83 Zahraj on court one.  

 

With their victory, the Trojans improve to 15-7 this season, with a 5-2 in conference play and 8-0 at home. Their win also marks a series sweep for USC against UCLA this season, winning three out of three matches. The Trojans will play one more match before the Pac-12 tournament when they host Utah this Sunday for their senior day match. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
