URBANA, Ill. – No. 11 Fighting Illini men’s tennis is set to host the second half of back-to-back top-10 matchups on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT, when they host No. 7 Arizona at Atkins Tennis Center.
History
Illinois is 1-0 over Arizona in the all-time series, last defeating the Wildcats, 4-3, in Tempe, Ariz., on Feb. 24, 1994.
Scouting Report
Arizona is on a seven-match winning streak, and it has not allowed its opponents to score more than one point, including a 4-1 win over No. 16 Michigan State.
This will be the second match the Wildcats played at Atkins this weekend after they first faced off with EIU on Saturday, taking a 7-0 win.
Arizona has three players in the top 80 of the ITA singles rankings: No. 8 Colton Smith, No. 52 Jay Friend and No. 89 Gustaf Strom. The Wildcats also have two doubles pairs in the top 50 of the ITA doubles rankings: No.15 Colton Smith and Jay Friend and No. 36 Sasha Rozin and Gustaf Strom.
