No. 10 USC Downs Ducks

LOS ANGELES – The No. 10 ranked USC Trojans proved too tough for Oregon men’s tennis, defeating the Ducks 4-0 on Friday.

The doubles point was tightly contested and took a 7-5 win from USC to clinch it. Court one went to USC 6-2, with Jesper Klov-Nilsson and Ivailo Keremedchiev tied at 6-6 when the point was clinched on court three.

In need of four singles victories, the Ducks dug a deeper hole, going down 3-0. Klov-Nilsson (6-2, 6-2) and Joshua Charlton (6-3, 6-2) each fell in straight sets. Luke Vandecasteele forced a third set after a 6-4 second set win. His brother Quinn was also in a tight second set, tied at 6-6 when the match point was secured on court five. Keremedchiev was also in a second-set advantage, up 5-4 when the match was called.

The Ducks will stay in Los Angeles to face UCLA at 1 p.m. PT on Sunday.
