BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 10th-ranked Duke women’s tennis team opened ACC action on Friday in Blacksburg, Va., with the Blue Devils (11-1, 1-0 ACC) collecting a 4-3 victory versus Virginia Tech (8-2, 0-1) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Duke registered its 10th straight ACC win dating back to last year, while Blue Devil senior Chloe Beck posted her 16th consecutive ACC regular season victory.
How It Happened
• For the first time this season, the Blue Devils played an outdoor match.
• Duke changed its No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams as the Blue Devils open ACC action.
• On the No. 3 court, Iuliia Bryzgalova and Georgia Drummy registered a 6-2 victory over Semra Aksu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki.
• Duke clinched the doubles point as No. 18 Chloe Beck and Cameron Morra posted a 6-3 win on court one versus Katie Andreini and Dariya Radulova.
• On court two, Duke’s Emma Jackson and Ellie Coleman were tied, 4-4, versus Erika Cheng and Ozlem Uslu when the doubles point was clinched.
• The Blue Devils went ahead, 2-0, as Brianna Shvets collected a straight-set win, 6-0, 6-2, over Charlotte Cartledge on court six.
• After dropping her first set, 2-6, for the first time in dual match play in 2023, second-ranked Beck responded by winning the next two sets, 6-1, 6-1, against Radulova on court one and giving Duke a 3-0 lead.
• On court three, Duke’s 26th-ranked Jackson clinched the victory for the Blue Devils with a 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) win over Barad Itzhaki. It marked the second time this season and eighth time in her career she has clinched a victory for Duke.
• Virginia Tech got on the board after Uslu picked up a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2) victory on court two over Duke’s No. 47 Morra.
• The Hokies added wins on court No. 4 and No. 5 as Aksu defeated Coleman, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, and Cheng knocked off Bryzgalova, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

• Jackson moved to 8-1 this season in dual match singles play.
