Pepperdine

BERKELEY – Jessica Alsola led a strong performance by the 10th-ranked California women’s tennis team in a 6-1 drubbing of No. 59 Oregon on Friday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Cal junior clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nina Geissler and was one of five Golden Bears to prevail in straight sets in singles.

The Bears improved their record to 13-4 (6-1 Pac-12). The Ducks are 10-9 (1-6).

Alsola also partnered with Katja Wiersholm to clinch the doubles point, with the duo defeating Tilde Jagare and Uxia Martinez Moral, 6-1, on court two. The 22nd-ranked Hannah Viller Moeller and Mao Mushika posted a 6-2 win over Jo-Yee Chan and Sophie Luescher at court one before Alsola and Wiersholm secured the point to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
