OJAI, Calif. – Arizona [9] fell 1-4 to first-seeded Stanford in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Championship Tournament on Thursday, April 27.
The Wildcats stumbled in doubles and came up short in singles. Salma Ziouti and Reece Carter fell 4-6 first at one doubles to #18 Blake/Blokhina then Stanford’s Ma/Xu clinched the point 6-4 against Midori Castillo and Belen Nevenhoven at three doubles. Arizona’s Carter lost her match 4-6 in straight sets to #24 Yepifanova at one singles before freshman Tanvi Narendran defeated Sun at six singles. The Tucson native bested her opponent 6-2 in the first set then swept the Cardinal 6-0 in the second.

After a tough 7-6(8) first set tiebreaker loss by Castillo to #83 Blokhina, the sophomore Wildcat came up short 3-6 in the second then #43 Blake clinched the quarterfinal win for Stanford after a straight set 6-4 win over Kayla Wilkins at three singles. The Wildcats await the NCAA selection show on May 1 to see if they’ve made the cut for the tournament.
