When it comes to Olympic tennis, Paris is a special place for Italy.
Lorenzo Musetti defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Saturday to snap a 100-year drought for the Italian men. Musetti’s 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory over the Canadian means that he became the first Italian to win a medal since Uberto de Morpurgo took bronze at the 1924 games in Paris.

Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini will also take hardware at the Olympics. They will face Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider in the women’s doubles final on Sunday.
It has been a special summer for Musetti. He reached his maiden major semifinal at Wimbledon this year, and went 12-3 overall on grass with a semifinal in Stuttgart and a runner-up performance at Queen’s Club. Then he switched to the clay and reached the final in Umag before heading to Paris.
