EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State men’s tennis has four singles players and four doubles pairs ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Men’s and Women’s National Singles and Doubles Computerized Rankings for December 3, 2024.
Junior Ozan Baris, who just finished as National Runner-Up at the NCAA Individual Championships on Nov. 24, is ranked No. 8. Sophomore Aristotelis Thanos, who advanced to the Round of 32 at the NCAA Individual Championships is ranked No. 27.
Freshman Matthew Forbes is ranked No. 40, while senior Max Sheldon is No. 83.
In doubles, freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev and sophomore Taym Alazmeh are ranked No. 66. The pair of Thanos and Baris is No. 94, while the duo of Forbes and Baris is No. 99, and the tandem of Sheldon and Forbes is No. 107.
Baris finished fall action with a 13-4 singles record, including an 11-match win streak. In doubles, Baris had a 4-3 overall record, going 2-1 with Forbes and 2-2 when teaming up with Thanos. In singles, Thanos tallied an 8-5 record.
Forbes registered an 8-7 singles record in the fall and Sheldon posted an 8-5 singles mark, while the doubles team of Sheldon and Forbes logged a 5-3 record.
Rakhmatullayev and Alazmeh went 9-3 in the fall.
National rankings consist of the Top 125 singles rankings as well as the Top 125 doubles rankings. These rankings will be the final singles and doubles rankings until February 5, while the first Division I Team Ranking will be released on January 6.
Michigan State opens the spring season on January 17 at the MSU Tennis Center vs. Kentucky.
