Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis junior Carter Morgan has been named to the SEC Community Service Team for the second consecutive year. The Community Service Team is an effort on behalf of the Southeastern Conference to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
Morgan has led his team in community service hours for the past two seasons and has served the local population through many different means. Morgan participated in the Week of Giving where he donated items and helped to sort donated items such as clothing that was given to local elementary schools. Additionally, he participated in the Meals on Wheels program, packing and delivering meals to Columbia’s seniors in need. Morgan has also spent time volunteering at tennis camps where he helps teach children how to play tennis and he cites his favorite community service project this semester as writing Valentines cards to children at the Prisma Health hospital.He says he is looking forward to the upcoming Gamecock Games where South Carolina’s student-athletes partner with special needs children at The Therapy Place for a day of activities.
In addition to his community service, Morgan serves on South Carolina’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and within that organization, serves on the community service committee.
Morgan and the rest of the men’s tennis team will play their final road match of the regular season tonight, facing No. 24 Texas A&M in College Station. The team will wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday, April 16, hosting No. 21 Florida at 1:00 p.m.
