Miyuka Kimoto Moves On To Quarterfinals


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Syracuse tennis wrapped up the first day of ITA Northeast Super Regionals on the campus of Yale University. At the conclusion of today’s action, Miyuka Kimoto was the lone Orange to advance to the Quarterfinal round after logging two victories.
 
Kimoto defeated Alexandra Benedetto, 6-3, 6-2, and then moved on to take down Anna Zhang 7-6(3), 6-7(4), 6-3. Tomorrow Kimoto will face Marian Aguiar in the quarterfinal round of singles play.
 
Two other Orange logged victories today: Viktoriya Kanapatskaya defeated Vivian Cheng, 6-3, 6-2 and Shiori Ito beat Basak Akbas, 6-4, 6-2. Both Kanapatskaya and Ito fell in the following round.
