STILLWATER, Okla. – Shunsuke Mitsui’s run in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships came to an end Wednesday afternoon at Greenwood Tennis Center.
The junior, ranked 37th in the nation, fell to Ohio State’s No. 19 JJ Tracy, 3-6, 4-6, in the Round of 16 of the singles draw. Mitsui was the first Vol to advance to the third round since VFL Adam Walton made it to the semifinals in 2022.
The Shizuoka, Japan, native finished his fantastic junior campaign with a 30-7 record and an 11-4 mark against ranked opponents in 2023-24, earning All-America and All-SEC First Team honors.
