SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Michigan men’s tennis team faced Alabama, Columbia and Notre Dame at the Bobby Bayliss Hidden Duals from Friday through Sunday (Sept. 23-25) at the Courtney Tennis Center. While there was no team scoring, the Wolverines won 13 of 19 singles matches and worked on trying different doubles combinations.

On Friday (Sept. 23), Michigan won singles Nos. 1 though 5 against Alabama. No. 48-ranked Jacob Bickersteth picked up a huge 6-3, 7-5 win over No. 13-ranked Filip Planinsek. Ondrej Styler, ranked No. 17, took down Enzo Aguiard in three sets at No. 2, and No. 75 Gavin Young earned a three-set win at No. 4. No. 42-ranked Andrew Fenty opened his season with a 6-1, 7-6 win at No. 3, while Patorn Hanchaikul won his match at No. 5, topping Zach Foster 6-3, 7-6. Nicholas Steiglehner and Hanchaikul also picked up a 6-2 doubles win.

Fenty, Bickersteth, Styler and Young improved to 2-0 with wins over Columbia on Saturday (Sept. 24). Styler and Bickersteth posted a 6-3 doubles win as well.

Going a perfect 3-for-3 for the weekend, Fenty took down Notre Dame’s Matthew Che 6-3, 6-1 on Sunday (Sept. 25), and Young topped Aditya Vashistha 6-4, 6-3. Paired at No. 1 doubles, Fenty/Young outlasted Che/Sebastian Dominko 7-6. Steiglehner won his first collegiate match with consecutive 6-4 sets over Connor Fu. Hanchaikul won a 10-point tiebreaker to go 2-1 on the weekend in singles play.

Michigan returns to action next Friday through Sunday (Sept. 30-Oct. 2) at the MSU Invite in East Lansing, Mich.
