RALEIGH, N.C. — The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men’s tennis team raced to a 4-0 win over NC State on Friday (Feb. 10) at the JW Isenhour Tennis Center.
Michigan (9-0) got back on track by winning the doubles point for the eighth time. Ondrej Styler and Patrick Maloney took a 6-4 win at No. 2 to improve to 6-1 on the season. Will Cooksey and Jacob Bickersteth clinched the point with a 7-5 win at No. 3.
No. 42-ranked Maloney won his fifth straight singles match with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) win over Martins Rocens at No. 3. No. 20 Styler followed up with a 6-3, 7-5 win — his 10th victory of the year. Young, ranked No. 36, rallied from a 6-3 loss in his first set to 6-2 and 6-3 wins to win the match.
The Wolverines will face No. 6 Southern California on Monday (Feb. 13) at 6 p.m. at the Varsity Tennis Center.
