Men's Tennis Visits Top-Ranked TCU Saturday


The UCLA men’s tennis team (6-2) takes a break from its eight-match homestand to visit No. 1 TCU (13-0) Saturday at Bartzen Varsity Courts in Fort Worth, Texas. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT. The meeting represents the 16th in the history of the programs and second in as many years.

LAST TIME OUT

UCLA overcame an early deficit to defeat Pennsylvania 5-2 in a non-conference clash Wednesday afternoon at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins bounced back from losing the doubles point to take a 3-1 lead on straight-set victories by Giacomo Revelli, Aadarsh Tripathi and Azuma Visaya. Clincher Gianluca Ballotta and Patrick Zahraj later added to the total. Manfredi Graziani of the Quakers logged two wins on the day, prevailing on the singles courts after contributing to the doubles point.

UCLA VS. TCU

UCLA holds an all-time record of 11-4 versus TCU. The programs most recently squared off March 10, 2022 at Los Angeles Tennis Center, where the Bruins fell short in a 4-2 decision at Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA knotted the contest at 2-2 but ultimately saw Pedro Vives clinch the result. Karl Lee of the Bruins was attempting to force a third set when the deciding match went final by way of tiebreaker. Patrick Zahraj of UCLA was up a set on the unfinished court. Alexander Hoogmartens and Giacomo Revelli posted singles wins for the Bruins. UCLA and TCU have never met in Fort Worth, Texas.

SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS

Sitting atop the latest ITA Team Computerized Rankings, TCU holds a record of 13-0 and most recently won 7-0 against UT Arlington (March 3). Individually, the following Horned Frogs are on the singles list: Jacob Fearnley (14), Luc Fomba (19), Alexander Jong (51) and Sebastian Gorzny (61). Four of their doubles pairs are nationally ranked: Jong/Lui Maxted (6), Fearnley/Fomba (12), Jong/Jack Pinnington (53) and Gorzny/Pedro Vives (73).
