TEMPE– On Thursday afternoon, Sun Devil Men’s Tennis Head Coach Matt Hill announced the addition of transfer Mathis Bondaz to the team’s roster. The incoming senior competed with Virginia Commonwealth University this season after spending time with Texas A&M in 2021-22. Bondaz was the highest ITA and UTR ranked player in the transfer portal checking in at #57 and 13.31, respectively.
Hill praised his newest signee, “Aside from the fact that he’s a really good tennis player, he has great character. He was an incredible leader for VCU. I was really impressed with his leadership traits.”

At VCU this season, Bondaz posted a team-leading 21-12 singles record, and saw a season-high ITA ranking of 41 during the season. Bondaz was 6-3 against nationally ranked opponents this season, and even competed against now-teammate Bor Artnak earlier this season, the match going unfinished at 5-5 in the third set. In 2024, he went 12-13 in doubles.
In his freshman year as an Aggie, Bondaz owned a 10-3 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record.
