BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Michigan State men’s tennis heads to Bloomington, Indiana this week for the 2023 Big Ten Tournament. The No. 7-seeded Spartans will play No. 10 seed Purdue on Thursday, April 27 at 2 p.m. in the tournament’s first round at Indiana’s IU Tennis Center.

MSU (10-13, 3-6 B1G) enters Thursday’s first-round match after dropping its final two regular-season contests, falling 6-1 to then-No. 25 Illinois on April 21 before dropping a 6-1 match to then-No. 26 Northwestern on April 23. Before their final two matches, the Spartans posted a three-match winning streak that featured victories over Penn State, Purdue and Indiana.
The Spartans faced Purdue on April 14 this season, earning a 5-2 victory on the road. The Boilermakers are 2-19 this season and winless in the conference.
In the final regular season Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, MSU earned a team ranking of No. 68, while freshman Ozan Baris ranks 49th in singles and ninth in doubles with partner Max Sheldon.
The winner of Thursday’s match moves on to play No. 2-seed Michigan on Friday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.
