UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 60 Penn State men’s tennis team (6-3) faces off against #59 Penn (6-1) in a 1 p.m. ET matchup on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Hecht Tennis Center in Philadelphia.
LAST TIME OUT
Penn State dominated their doubleheader versus Delaware and St. Bonaventure on Sunday, coming away with two wins. The Nittany Lions cruised past the Blue Hens, 6-1, before sweeping the Bonnies, 7-0.
The Nittany Lions set themselves up for success by sweeping the doubles courts and earning the point in both dual matches. Winning five singles courts versus Delaware, Bora Sengul clinched the match 6-1, 7-6 (4-0) over Tobias Sonne at No. 5.
Penn State went on to defeat the Bonnies in a convincing fashion by sweeping all six singles courts. Charl Morgan secured the match for the Nittany Lions with a 7-5, 7-5 victory on court one over St. Bonaventure’s Stijn Paardekooper. The Nittany Lions improved to 6-0 at home after sweeping their Sunday doubleheader.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn comes into this Saturday matchup with a 6-1 record with its only loss coming to Princeton at the ECAC Championships. They debuted on ITA’s Division 1 National rankings at number 59 this week.
In eight recorded matches between Penn State and Penn, the two programs split the record at 4-4. The Nittany Lions came away with the most recent win in 2020 at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center. They will look to earn another victory over the Quakers in Philadelphia this weekend.
