Men’s Tennis Handles Business Versus Santa Clara

EUGENE, Ore.  – Oregon men’s tennis defeated Santa Clara 6-1 today at the Student Tennis Center, moving to 4-1 on the season.
 
Things looked good early after Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele cruised to a 6-2 win, and Jesper Klov-Nilsson and Luke Vandecasteele clinched doubles with a 6-3 win. Shortly after, Ivailo Keremedchiev and Ray Lo won 6-4.
 
With a one-zero lead, Oregon took the courts in singles. It was a slower start than the Ducks would have liked, with first sets going the way of Santa Clara on courts two and three. The Broncos then tied the match after a 6-1, 6-2 sweep on court two. Ray Lo got one back for the Ducks, sweeping his match 6-4, 6-2.
 
Quinn got the third point of the day for Oregon in a three-set battle. He dropped the first 6-2, before storming back with 6-2 and 6-4 wins. Doubles teammate Charlton quickly followed on court one, clinching his sweep 7-6 (3), 6-4 and giving Oregon the victory.
 
The remaining matches would be played out, with Oregon leading 4-1. Jesper Klov-Nilsson swept a long one, 7-5, 7-5. Freshman Vlad Breazu made it six points on the day, taking his match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Oregon remains home matches vs. Pacific and Seattle at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
