MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin men’s tennis (0-8, 0-0 B1G) fell to No. 21 Alabama (7-2, 0-0 SEC), 6-1, to wrap up the weekend at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Sunday.

Competing in just two doubles matches due to injury, the Badgers played Michael Minasyan/Matthew Fullerton at No. 1 doubles against Enzo Aguiard/Zach Foster and Oliver Olsson/Collin Beduhn against Filip Planinsek/Andrii Zimnokh in the No. 2 match. Alabama was able to claim both matches to secure the doubles point.

Wisconsin’s Michael Minasyan put on a show at No. 1 singles, securing a win against Alabama’s Filip Planinsek, 6-4, 7-5. Minasyan opened an early lead in both sets and outlasted Planisek the rest of the way. He closed a tight final three games in the second set that saw back-and-forth action, and a service hold for Minasyan ended it. Planinsek entered the match ranked No. 51 in the nation.

Pushed up to the No. 2 singles spot, freshman Matthew Fullerton battled Enzo Aguiard, who holds a No. 74 national ranking. Fullerton suffered a defeat, 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 5 singles, Oliver Olsson took the second set, 6-0, to force a tiebreaker. However, he was outlasted 10-6 in the extra stanza.

Up Next: Wisconsin returns to action on Friday, Feb. 23, hosting Butler for a 3 p.m. first serve at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Badgers then host Denver on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m.
