Men's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors


SALT LAKE CITY – Utah men’s tennis landed four student-athletes to the ITA Scholar-Athlete team for the 2021-22 academic year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday morning. It is the fifth year in a row that the program has had at least four Utes earn an individual honor.
 
Collectively, the Utah men’s tennis team earned an ITA All-Academic team award. To be eligible for the team award, the team must have a GPA of 3.20 or above for the 2021-22 academic year.
 
Jayson Blando, Michael Blando, Charlie Spina and Rian Ta earned the individual honor for the 2021-22 academic year to represent the Utes. Leading the way was Ta after earning his second selection as an ITA Scholar-Athlete. J. Blando, M. Blando and Spina became a first-time honoree.  

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of a 3.5 or above for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
