Men’s Tennis Drops Road Match Against Stanford

Arizona State

STANFORD, CALIF. – The Utes wrapped up the second match of their four-match road trip this afternoon with a 4-0 loss to the Cardinal. After dropping the doubles point the Utes fell short in singles despite having promising holds on multiple courts.

During doubles play the Utes dropped court three and were leading in court one as Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn held a 4-2 lead against the Cardinal. The match remained unfinished as Stanford took control on court two and secured the doubles point in the Cardinal’s favor.

Utah moved to singles play looking for an opportunity to secure enough courts to turn the tide. As Stanford took court five, six and one, the match was clinched, leaving three unfinished matches.

On court two, Krenn was leading as he won the first set 6-4 and led the second set 4-3 before the clinch. Similarly, on court three Jayson Blando dropped the first set 6-3 but was in a close 4-4 tie before the end of the match. Court four was also unfinished where Dylan Applegate was in a close 4-5 set after dropping the first set 7-5 and looking for a third set to secure a win.

The Utes are set to continue the road trip as they head to face Arizona State and Arizona in the final road matches of the season before returning to the George S. Eccles Tennis Center to wrap up the season.
