Men’s Tennis Concludes Fall Campaign at NCAA Individual Championships – Stanford Cardinal

WACO, Texas – For the first time, as part of a two-year pilot program, the fall tennis season ended at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Samir Banerjee participated in both singles and doubles, while Nico Godsick played in doubles.
Banerjee, ranked No. 23 in the preseason ITA rankings, faced off with preseason No. 1 Ozan Baris from Michigan State. Competing in his third NCAA Singles Championship, Banerjee fell to Baris, 6-1, 6-2. The Basking Ridge, New Jersey native finishes the fall at 3-2 overall, including two wins over top-25 players.
The tandem of Godsick and Banerjee faced off with Auburn’s duo of Blaydes and Nolan, but the Cardinal pair fell 6-2, 6-4. Godsick and Banerjee hold a 7-3 overall record after the fall slate, including a trio of ranked wins.
Stanford returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in its spring opener against Saint Mary’s.
