Men's Tennis Closes Out Big 12/SEC Challenge


WACO, Texas – On the final day of the Big 12/SEC Challenge, Sun Devil Men’s Tennis picked up a few more victories en route to the Big 12 defeating the SEC 48-42. Senior Nicola Cigna picked up a gritty singles win over Alabama’s #114 ranked Ponce De Leon to highlight Sunday’s play.

Doubles:

Roi Ginat/Mikey Anderson (ASU) def. Thomas Kennedy/Joey Phillips (Auburn), 8-6

Alex Frusina/Jake Kennedy (Auburn) def. Nicola Cigna/Daniel Phillips (ASU) 8-7 (4)

Singles: 

Nicola Cigna (ASU), def. #114 Matias Ponce De Leon (Alabama),  6-3, 2-6, 6-4

Roan Jones (Alabama) def. Roi Ginat (ASU), 6-0, 6-2

Daniel Phillips (ASU) def. Damien Nezar (Alabama,  6-4, 6-4

Carlos Giminez Perez (Alabama) def. Mikey Anderson (ASU), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
