MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s tennis head coach Danny Westerman has announced the addition of coaching assistant Gabriel Huber. Huber joins the coaching staff after a five-year playing career as a Badger from 2019-24.
“Urban and I are thrilled we can add Gabriel to our staff. He brings such a unique perspective as a recent graduate and understands first-hand what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at Wisconsin. As a player, he was a fantastic leader and incredibly hard worker—two amazing traits that will help him be a great coach. We are fortunate to have him on our staff.”
Huber, an Innsbruck, Austria native, arrived in Madison as a freshman in 2019. In his first season, he posted a 6-0 record at No. 3 singles. During the 2020-21 campaign, Huber logged a 3-2 record as the Badgers’ lead single player. Huber eventually posted a 14-11 record in 2022-23, spending time at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles. By the end of his five-year career, Huber had compiled a 49-54 overall singles record and a 14-18 clip in Big Ten action.
Wisconsin men’s tennis opens the 2024 fall season on Sept. 27 with action beginning at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
