THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel are set to represent the Yellow Jackets at the 2023 NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championship.
Due to his consistent success throughout the season, Martin has been selected as the No. 6 seed in the singles draw. After maintaining a top 30 rankings, Martin and McDaniel were named an at-large bid for the doubles draw.
Most recently, both Jackets earned All-ACC honors. Martin was named to the first team, McDaniel earned a spot on the third team and the duo was placed on the second team for doubles. Both players have earned All-ACC honors three times during their collegiate career.
Throughout the spring season, Martin tallied nine conference wins and an overall record of 21-5. Nationally ranked throughout almost the entire season, Martin climbed on the top singles players list as his success increased on the court. Throughout the fall and spring, he has recorded eight victories over top 50 opponents and a total of 15 wins over nationally-ranked players.
Martin and McDaniel were Tech’s top doubles team throughout most of the spring. The two recorded a 10-6 record in dual match play including a victory over the No. 1 doubles team in the NCAA, South Carolina’s Connor Thomson and Toby Samuel.
