Lukas Engelhardt Named to SEC Community Service Team


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss men’s tennis senior Lukas Engelhardt was one of 13 student-athletes to receive a place on the SEC Community Service Team, the Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday.

The SEC Community Service Team serves as an annual effort by the Southeastern Conference to highlight the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. A total of 13 individuals were named to the SEC Community Service Team this season, representing each men’s tennis program within the conference.

A four-year starter with the Ole Miss men’s tennis team, senior Lukas Engelhardt has led the charge for the Rebel squad in getting the team involved with the community. Engelhardt has gotten involved in several programs focused on the betterment of the Oxford community throughout his playing career. This includes taking part in Adopt-A-Basket, in which he helped with the collection of over 1,300 items to make a total of 107 holiday food baskets for families in need, as well as the Night to Shine campaign where student-athletes served as paparazzi for the red-carpet entrance/exit during the Tim Tebow Foundation annual A Night to Shine event. This event is meant to help benefit those with special needs throughout the North Mississippi area.

Engelhardt also has taken part in the Hope to Dream event, helping to provide 5- bed sets to children in Tunica, Quitman and Lafayette County in Mississippi, as well as helping put on the annual Trunk or Treat event which allowed for children to play games while trunk or treating to different vehicles to gather candy. The Augusburg, Germany, native, along with the rest of the men’s tennis team were able to visit the local elementary schools around the area for the Oxford Elementary Car Drop, where they greeted children as they exited their cars/buses on the first day of school. He also took part in the annual Books and Bears campaign, where he assisted in the collection of books and bears to donate to the campus-wide collection to help show support to facility workers on campus.

Finally, Engelhardt has gotten involved with many campaigns for the betterment of Oxford’s residents through initiatives like Oxford Health & Rehab, where he helped encourage residents to stay physically active by participating in the Sit & Be Fit class, along with leading various exercises at…
