SALT LAKE CITY – The Pac-12 Conference has announced the women’s tennis postseason awards with Utah women’s tennis placing Yuhan Liu and Marcela Lopez on the All-Pac-12 Second Team and Kat Lyman drew an honorable mention.
Lyman and Liu are the first Utes in school history to earn Second Team honors. This is the first All-Pac-12 honor for Lopez, Liu and Lyman.
Lopez played primarily at the No. 1 spot in both doubles and singles. She posted a 9-9 record in singles and a 10-6 doubles record with her partner Ana Luiza Cruz. Lopez was ranked in the Top 100 for most of the season for singles and breached the Top 50 in the rankings in doubles. She posted three Pac-12 singles wins.
Yuhan Liu posted an 11-5 singles record and a 3-4 doubles record. She competed primarily at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. She picked up a win at the No. 1 spot in the last match of the season vs. Colorado to clinch the match for the Utes. Liu had four singles wins in the Pac-12 season. She also had an unbeaten streak of five including wins over Washington and UCLA.
Lyman posted a 15-6 record in singles and recorded eight doubles wins. She had six singles wins in the Pac-12 season. Lyman played primarily at the No. 4 spot in the singles lineup. She started the season winning 11 of 13 matches and had an unbeaten streak of six.
Utah ended the season in the quarterfinal round of the Pac-12 Touranment and posted a 12-10 overall record and went 3-4 in Pac-12 play.
