Lady Vols Sign Transfer Lauren Anzalotta

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Head coach Alison Ojeda announced the signing of junior college transfer Lauren Anzalotta, a former five-star blue chip prospect who comes to Rocky Top from Tyler Junior College and will join the Lady Vols in the fall.

Anzalotta, a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, was the highest ranked prospect from Puerto Rico and 17th overall individual from the class of 2020. Anzalotta dominated in the junior college ranks, earning 2022 ITA Sophomore Player of the Year honors, claiming the JUCO National Singles Title in the fall and the NJCAA Singles National Championship in the spring. She finished the season ranked No. 1 in singles and No. 2 doubles and helped lead the Apaches to a second-consecutive NJCAA National Championship.

“Our team has one goal that stands amongst the rest, we want to win a team SEC Championship,” head coach Alison Ojeda said. “In order to do that, we have to make sure we are recruiting young women who believe in themselves during adverse times, Lauren is that person. She had an outstanding career at Tyler Junior College and with some hard work this summer in the weight room and on the court, I feel confident she will do the same at the University of Tennessee.”

Anzalotta has shown an ability to compete and win at the highest level. In her 2021-22 campaign, she faced multiple opponents from Division I schools and went 7-0 in those matchups, including a victories in singles on Court 1 at Baylor and Louisiana Tech, plus an individual victory over a Wisconsin player in the fall.

“I’m looking forward to Lauren joining the program, she has been extremely successful at the junior college level and I know she is eager to challenge herself in a new environment,” associate head coach Jarryd Chaplin said. “She will bring a strong, competitive attitude to our program, along with a team-first mentality. There is a lot that I like about her game and, fortunately, there is still plenty to improve on so I am excited to get to work.”
