“Part of our core values at The University of Tennessee is competitive excellence,” Ojeda said. “Our schedule this upcoming spring is exactly that! Eight of our 10 matches in our non-conference season will be against ranked opponents. That says a lot about who our team is and what we want to achieve. We are really excited about those opportunities before we get into SEC play.”
The Lady Vols open up spring play by hosting Furman and Chattanooga for a dual match on Sunday, Jan. 14. The following weekend, the Big Orange is back on Rocky Top for another dual match against Wake Forest and Bellarmine on Jan. 21.
Tennessee will then play host two ITA Kickoff matches between Vanderbilt, USC and Miami on Jan. 26 and 27. Also at home, the squad will face NC State for a full day of matches on Feb. 2.
“In regards to our team, I am really enjoying this group of young women,” said Ojeda. “We are doing the work now so that we will be ready to compete at a championship-caliber level.”
Pending the results of ITA Kickoff Weekend, the Lady Vols would participate in the ITA National Indoor Championships in Seattle, Washington.
Tennessee will then travel south to face UCF on Feb. 16 and Florida State on Feb. 18.
The Lady Vols will wrap up their non-conference slate by hosting in-state opponent ETSU on Feb. 22.
UT’s 13-match conference slate features seven home matches including LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Kentucky before finishing with Vanderbilt on Senior Day.
The Big Orange will hit the road to face six conference opponents including matches at Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Florida, Auburn and Alabama.
All home matches will be played in Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center or Barksdale Stadium.
