Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis completed its second day of action at the Gamecock Shootout on Saturday. Freshman Anna Kantor was the top performing Gamecock on the day, recording both a singles and doubles win – each of them her career firsts.
In singles, Kantor faced Marshall’s Andjela Lopicic and made quick work of her opponent, dismantling her in a 6-0, 6-2 result.
Kantor then moved onto doubles where she paired up with junior Misa Malkin to take on SMU’s Drew Morris and Millie Skelton. The Gamecock duo was even with their counterparts through the first six games before finally breaking away to win 6-3.
Also in singles on the day, graduate Elise Mills recorded a gritty come-from-behind win. After giving up the first set 6-3 to Virginia Tech’s Laima Frosch, Mills evened things up by claiming the second set 6-4. In the final set, Mills dug deep to come up with the win in a 6-3 final set.
South Carolina’s other results of the day included one singles and one doubles loss.
The Gamecocks will conclude action on Sunday with one final round of doubles followed by singles. Doubles will begin at approximately 11:00 a.m. with singles immediately after. Live streaming will be available here.
