A chronic shoulder injury has compelled Ons Jabeur to pull the plug on the rest of the 2024 season.

Two-time Wimbledon finalist Jabeur, who also reached the 2022 US Open final, has been plagued by shoulder pain.

Since reaching the Roland Garros quarterfinals in June, Jabeur has been limited to 11 matches, posting a 6-5 mark in that span.

“This year has been extremely hard for me and as athletes, we know that recovery is part of the journey,” Jabeur said in a post on social media. “Due to my ongoing shoulder injury, my medical team and I’ve made the difficult decision to step off the tennis circuit for the rest of the season.

“While I’m taking time to heal, I’ll be dedicating myself to charity work and ensuring that we make a real difference in the world.”

The former world No. 2, now ranked No. 22, aims to return to the court next season in time for the 2025 Australian Open.
