CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers women’s tennis team is set to compete in the ITA Kickoff weekend. The first matchup is against Iowa, and the following day, they will either compete in the championship match or the consultation match against the winner of no. 7 NC State and Alabama.
The match against Iowa is set for Saturday, January 27, at 4:00 p.m. and can be viewed through the track tennis website. Links can be found on our website as well as on social media.
“This will be a great weekend of tennis play for our team,” Head Coach Boomer Saia said. “We will be tested at the highest level and look forward to competing. We will give ourselves a great chance to succeed if we continue to grow in big moments and control each match’s controllables. I am excited to get back out there with our team.”
After a great weekend, the Tigers are on a 3-0 win streak. Two out of the three matches ended in a dominating 7-0 win, with the other ending in a 4-3 win after Eleni Louka clinched the match.
Other notable performances come from Graduate student Alina Tsyurpalevych, who had a phenomenal weekend, winning every doubles and singles matchup. Sophia Hatton also had a standout weekend, winning every singles matchup.
Additionally, Louka and Jenna Thompson have clinched the doubles point for Clemson two matches in a row as they secured the point for the Tigers in Friday’s match against ETSU and the Sunday match against Georgia State.
