CLEMSON, S.C. โ€“ The Clemson womenโ€™s tennis team will compete in ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Pepperdine University on Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers (4-0) will open the weekend against No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of Clemsonโ€™s match will play the winner of a match between Memphis and Columbia on Sunday at 4 p.m. The losers of the two matches will meet in a consolation match at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Clemson and Pepperdine have met four times in the history of the programs, with the Tigers taking all four matches. Most recently, Clemson defeated Pepperdine in 2005 in a tightly contested 4-3 battle. Clemson is 1-0 all time against Memphis and 1-0 all time against Columbia.

The Tigers have started their season hot, sweeping two doubleheaders all by score of 7-0. Cristina Mayorova has been exceptional thus far, going 4-0 in singles play while boasting a 3-0 doubles record.

The Tigers return eight student-athletes from last yearโ€™s roster, including Samantha Buyckx and Jenna Thompson who make up the No. 50 ITA ranked doubles pair in the nation. Clemson also welcomes newcomer Leigh Van Zyl to the fray. The native of South Africa will look to make an immediate impact on Head Coach Amy Sargeantโ€™s squad.
