KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team sent a trio of competitors to the Bronco Super Classic in Kalamazoo this past weekend. Olivia Maria Castedo, Alex Kuo and Sydney Sforzo all competed in the event. Kuo dominated in her final event of the fall, winning all three of her matches in the event.
On day one of the competition, Castedo took on an opponent from Chicago State, falling in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6. Kuo was victorious over Wayne State’s Shanice Weekes, 2-6, 6-2, 11-9 and Sforzo dropped a three-set match.
Doubles saw Castedo pair with both teammates. She and Kuo knocked off a tandem from Northern Illinois, 6-3 before Castedo paired with Sforzo, falling 6-0 at a pair from Western Michigan.
Day two saw the Kuo earn a 7-6, 6-2 win to start the day, defeating WMU’s Kaitlyn Rogosch. Sforzo dropped a straight-set matchup with WMU’s Maya Perkucin. Castedo dropped a straight set loss to Lindsay Zieglar of WMU, 6-3, 6-1.
The final day of competition saw Kuo earn another win in singles competition, taking down Milwaukee’s Alice Shields, 6-2, 6-3. Sforzo dropped her matchup 6-1, 6-4 to Yasmin Glazbrook of Oakland to conclude the event.
