SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic Team award for their efforts in the classroom this season. Eight individuals were also recognized for their efforts. This season, 234 programs earned the All-Academic Team distinction, with 1,513 individuals being named ITA Scholar-Athlete. Included in those 1,513 honorees were Notre Dame’s Julia Andreach, Carrie Beckman, Kate Bellia, Page Freeman, Nibi Ghosh, Rylie Hanford, Alex Kuo and Sydney Sforzo.
To qualify for this honor as a team, the program needed to have a team grad point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.00 scale with all varsity letter winners being factored into the cumulative GPA for the current academic year. Individually, the honor went to those who earned a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale.
This is the 25th season that the Irish program has earned the ITA All-Academic team award, and the fourth consecutive season for the program to achieve the honor. Its the first Scholar-Athlete award for Andreach, Ghosh, Hanford and Kuo while Beckman, Bellia, Freeman and Sforzo have earned multiple Scholar-Athlete honors by the ITA.
