SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team dropped a pair of matches in the Sunshine State over Easter weekend. The 23rd-ranked Irish fell at #39 Florida State 4-1, and #14 Miami (Fla.) 5-2. This moves the Irish to 13-9 overall and 4-7 in Atlantic Coast Conference action, with two matches remaining in the regular season.
How It Happened – Florida State
The matchup with the Seminoles started off on the right foot as the Irish took the doubles point. The 37th-ranked pairing of Carrie Beckman and Julia Andreach earned a 6-1 victory over Vic Allen and Kianah Motosono at the second flight. Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedo tallied a 6-3 victory at the top flight to secure the point.
Singles play finished up all in favor of the Seminoles. Andreach fought until the third set before falling, while the Irish dropped the top flight, and positions five and six in the loss.

The Irish got the matchup with the Hurricanes started off the right way again, taking the doubles point. Beckman partnered with Bojana Pozder at the third flight, earning a 6-3 win over Audrey Boch-Collins and Mia Mack. Rylie Hanford and Yashna Yellayi secured the point with a 7-5 win at the second flight over Alexa Noel an dIsabella Pfennig.
Miami’s singles competition stormed out of the gate, winning five-consecutive matches in straight sets to secure the point. Pozder added the Irish’s only point in singles action, earning a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) win at No. 2.
