Illinois Women’s Tennis Adds Ueno, Isyanov During Signing Period

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini Women’s Tennis Head Coach Evan Clark has announced the signing of Risa Ueno and Elizabeth Isyanov to Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreements.

Isyanov joins the Orange and Blue from her hometown of Elmhurst, Illinois, where she attended York High School. Over the last two years, Isyanov has been ranked inside the top 20 as a blue-chip recruit and is currently a five-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.com. She is ranked No. 3 in the state of Illinois for the 2025 class. Isyanov was the Illinois State High School runner up in 2024.

In the classroom, Isyanov has earned a spot on the high honor roll all four year and is an AP scholar with honors. Elizabeth is the daughter of Anna and Eugene Isyanov.

Why she chose Illinois: “I chose Illinois because it’s an excellent school where I can pursue both my academic and tennis career with an amazing team and coaches.”

Ueno hails from Hiroshima, Japan, where she attends the Sanyo Girls’ High School. At the Junior ITF level, Ueno has won one singles and three doubles championships. Ueno currently owns a 10.05 UTR and has reached a career-high rank of No. 393 in the Junior ITF. Ueno was a 2024 National Spring High School Championship semifinlist

Risa is the daughter of Tomoaki and Natsuko Ueno.

Why she chose Illinois: “I chose Illinois because of the high academic standards and how welcoming the team was on my visit. I feel that the coaching staff is enthusiastic and also very caring.”
