SEATTLE – Four Dawgs finished up three days of action at the CCB Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, while two more Dawgs spent the weekend battling at Gonzaga.
In Birmingham, at a tournament hosted by Samford, Cesar Bouchelaghem had a solid weekend, capped off on Sunday by a win over the tourney’s top seed, Julien Penzlin of LSU, 6-2, 7-6 (4). Bouchelaghem also had a win over JB Pickard of Samford and a loss to LSU’s Welsh Hotard in two straight tiebreaks.
Han-Chih Lin was 2-2 in singles play at Samford, defeating Louisiana’s Vasil Dimitrov and Belmont’s Alfred Wallin.
Nedim Suko won his first round match against Louisiana’s William Ribero but lost in round two, while Rikuto Yamaguchi had an opening round defeat but then picked up a couple wins in consolation play over Pasawee Reansuwong of Southern Missouri and Charlie Barry of Tulane.
At the Gonzaga Invitational in Spokane, freshman Brett Pearson beat Jan Semerak of Portland State in his opener before falling to Gonzaga’s Sasha Trkulja in the quarterfinals, and Jacob Sleight beat Adam Taylor of Idaho but lost his quarterfinal to Guillermo Martin of Montana.
