Huskies Wash Out Warriors In Honolulu


HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Dawgs knocked off the rust after eleven days between matches and wrapped up their nonconference schedule with a 5-2 win at Hawaii. Washington improves to 9-4 and will open Pac-12 play this Sunday at home against Utah.
 
The Huskies lost the doubles point to start things at the UH Tennis Complex, but battled back with five wins in singles play. Freshman Brett Pearson got the clincher at No. 6 singles, edging out Andy Hernandez, 7-5, 7-6 (3).
 
102nd-ranked Cesar Bouchelaghem stayed unbeaten at 13-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at third singles over Guillaume Tattevin. Sophomore Nedim Suko had a 6-4, 6-3 win over Lucas Labrunie at No. 4 singles, and Dzianis Zharyn had a pair of 6-0 set wins bookending a 3-6 second set to defeat Axel Labrunie at No. 2 singles. Leading 4-2, Jim Hendrikx got the final victory at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, over Kilian Maitre.
 
This Sunday at 12 noon, the Dawgs will take on the Utes in the first of eight-straight Pac-12 matches.
