SEATTLE — On their final day at the Gamecock Shootout in Columbia, South Carolina, the Husky women’s tennis team split eight singles matches against a strong Southern Methodist University squad. Washington finished the three day hidden dual tournament with a combined singles and doubles record of 26-7.

SMU ended last season ranked No. 44 in the ITA rankings, a few spots below the Huskies, so the teams were well matched. Husky wins today came from Astrid Olsen, Hikaru Sato, Jennifer Kerr, and Ashley Chang.

Olsen won a three setter over Drew Morris, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Sato topped Taylor Johnson, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-4. Kerr was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Maja Makoric. Chang had a 6-1, 6-2 win over Reka Patel.
