Huskies Drop Championship Match At Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. – Top Husky doubles duo Dzianis Zharyn and Cesar Bouchelaghem could not quite claim the top trophy today at the ITA Northwest Super Regional Championships, falling in the final. Zharyn and Bouchelaghem had been attempting to become the first Dawgs since 2005 to win the event, but lost to a Pacific duo that wound up beating three of the top four seeds.

Bouchelaghem and Zharyn, ranked 16th in the national preseason rankings, had won three times to become the first UW finalists since 2018. Pacific’s Alam/Trainauskas earned the 7-5, 6-3 victory today at Stanford’s Taube Tennis Stadium.

Washington has two more events on its schedule this week, with the USTA Intercollegiates in Los Angeles, and the CCB Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
