Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska men’s tennis team is back on the court Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT as the Huskers play host to Drake at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. A live stream and stats of the match will be available on Huskers.com, and updates will be posted on @HuskerMTennis on Twitter.
Scouting Drake
• The Bulldogs split a doubleheader on Sunday, losing to Cornell 4-3 and beating Washburn 6-1.
• Jeremy Schifris is Drake’s top singles player coming in at No. 34 nationally.
• Drake is 0-2 on the road so far this season. In 2022, the Bulldogs compiled a 5-10 road record.
Series History
The two teams have played 22 times, with the Huskers going 10-12 in those contests. The most recent match up came on Jan. 29, 2022, in Lincoln, Neb., which the Huskers won 4-3. Nebraska’s longest win streak against the Bulldogs is six, which came between 2002-2006.
Quick Notes
• Sophomore Ilarion Danilchenko made his season debut on Saturday, but came up just short against Cornell’s Jack McCarthy in singles 6-1, 6-4.
• The pairing of Shunya Maruyama and Nic Wiedenhorn have established themselves as one of Nebraska’s best doubles duo so far this season. The pair is 2-1 in the spring, including a come-from-behind-win on Saturday against Cornell to clinch the doubles point for NU.
• New individual and doubles rankings come out on Wednesday Feb. 8. The Huskers’ lone ranked player is Roni Hietaranta, who is currently ranked No. 75 in singles play. Hietaranta is 2-2 in singles this spring.
