MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The No. 21 University of Miami women’s tennis team took down Boston College, 5-2, at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday evening.
In their second appearance at the Miami Open, the Hurricanes (7-4, 5-2 ACC) took the doubles point over the Golden Eagles (6-11, 1-9 ACC) before notching four singles wins to secure the team victory.
On court one, the No. 56 ranked duo of Isabella Pfennig and Xinyi Nong dominated Marice Aguiar and Stephanie Sanchez, 6-1. Boston College’s Seren Agar and Nada Dimovska then took court two, 6-2, over Antonia Balzert and Leonie Schuknecht to tie up the doubles portion.
Alexa Noel and Audrey Boch-Collins clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Natalie Eordekian and Tola Glowacka on court three to send Miami into singles with an advantage.
Getting into singles play, No. 16 Alexa Noel grabbed a ranked win with a 6-4, 6-0 score over No. 106 Aguiar at the top court to give Miami the 2-0 lead. Audrey Boch-Collins then dominated court five against Sanchez, 6-1, 6-1, to push the Hurricanes to a strong 3-0 advantage.
The Golden Eagles tallied a point with Muskan Mahajan taking down Antonia Balzert, 6-4, 6-3, on court three. Leonie Schuknecht answered by clinching the win on court four, notching a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Tola Glowacka.
Ranked No. 69, Isabella Pfennig fought her way to take the match in straight sets, defeating Natalie Eordekian 6-2, 7-6 (5) on court two to help Miami to five points.
Boston College finished out the match with another court win at the No. 6 spot, with Seren Agar taking down Xinyi Nong, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
Miami is back on the court on Sunday to face Syracuse at 11 a.m. for its last home match of the season.
