Tennessee graduate student #47 Emile Hudd secured a statement win over fourth-ranked Iñaki Montes of Virginia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Hudd opened the match with poise en route to dropping just one game in the first set, using that momentum to take the match.
It was Hudd’s first singles action of the fall season and marked his 31st career singles win since arriving on Rocky Top last fall.
On the doubles courts Wednesday evening, Hudd and Mitsui—the nation’s seventh-ranked doubles pairing—battled for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Pepperdine’s Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel. The Tennessee duo improves to 29-12 as a pair and is 2-0 together this fall.
