NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 37 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will return home after two weeks on the road to host No. 53 Alabama and Bellarmine on Friday and No. 13 Auburn on Sunday.
The Commodores come into the weekend 3-5 in SEC play with their most recent victory over Missouri. No. 46 Celia-Belle Mohr will work to extend her singles win streak to three as well as her doubles win streak to two with partner Marcella Cruz. In last week’s ITA poll, two other Dores earned singles rankings: Bridget Stammel at No. 82 and Anna Ross at No. 88. Mohr and Cruz also earned a No. 58 ranking in doubles.
Friday’s Doubleheader
The Crimson Tide are 3-4 in conference play and 1-5 overall on the road, and Alabama recently snapped its three-match losing streak with a victory over No. 43 LSU. The Crimson Tide have one ranked doubles pairing at No. 34. Overall, the Commodores are 29-19 against the Crimson Tide. The match against Alabama will begin at 2 p.m. CT.
Vanderbilt will host Bellarmine on Friday after the Alabama match, starting no earlier than 5 p.m.
Sunday Versus Auburn
The Tigers are 4-3 in conference play and 14-5 overall. Auburn split its matches last weekend, coming away with a victory over No. 43 LSU and a loss to No. 2 Texas A&M. The Tigers have two ranked singles players at No. 32 and No. 50 in addition to their three ranked doubles pairings (No. 20, No. 64 and No. 80). Vanderbilt will work to add to its 32-15 overall winning record against Auburn this weekend. Sunday’s match will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
Home Match Notes
All three matches will be played at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Fans can find parking in the 25th Avenue Garage, and the tennis center will enforce the clear bag policy.
Daddy’s Dogs will be at Friday’s match against Alabama, where the first $500 worth of food will be paid for by Vanderbilt’s tennis program. Alcohol will be available for purchase.
On Sunday, Elliston Place Soda Shop will be at the Auburn match. The first $500 worth of food will be covered by Vanderbilt’s tennis program, and alcohol will be available for purchase.
